Words for the force and motion unit
Term | Definition |

gravity | the force that attracts an object toward the center of the Earth, or toward any other physical body having mass |
Force | push or pull applied to an object |
push | to use force to move someone or something away from you |
pull | to hold onto and move someone or something toward yourself |
friction | force that opposes movement between touching surfaces and always acts against the direction of motion |
mass | the measurement of the amount of matter something contains |
weight | the measurement of the pull of gravity on an object |
motion | the action or process of moving or of changing place or position; movement |
inertia | matter’s resistance to change in motion |
speed | the rate at which someone or something moves or travels. |
position | the place where someone or something is in relation to other people or things. |
axis | The two perpendicular lines on a coordinate grid. Horizontal axis is called the X. The vertical axis is called the Y. |
