Normal Size Small Size show me how
virus reproduction
steps/growth of a virus (3.2)
Question | Answer |
---|---|
(1st) attachment | attaches to host (human) cell, .( Viruses can attach to lymphocytes, monocytes, macrophages, and even epithelial cells) |
(2nd) Entry | virus DNA enters the host cell. |
(3rd) Uncoating | breakdown/removal of the capsid of the virus, causing the virus completely released, exposing viral genes |
(4th) Replication | The virus uses the host cell to replicate there RNA/ DNA (depending on the virus, proteins, and genome copies.) |
(5th) Assembly | Newly created virus parts self-assemble into new virions, intact and infective virus particles. (original virus growing) |
(6th) Mutation | the final changes in structure of the capsid in an immature virion (resulting in an infectious virus particle.) |
(7th) Release | In the final step of the virus replication cycle, the cell host releases the new virions into the environment, where the virion can continue the cycle of infecting new cells. |
