Digestive Enzymes | Oral enzymes help to kill invaders |
Cilia | cilia in the trachea and lungs are consistently waving upwards. Invaders are trapped in mucus found here and are pressed up and out. (smoking kills cilia) |
Stomach Acid | has PH of around 2 and works to kills invaders |
Nasal Mucosa & cilia | The mucus and cilia (small hairs) in the nose trap invaders |
Phagocytes | these cells patrol the lungs and eat/ digest invaders |
Normal Flora | live on the skin and in intestines, they take up space and secrete chemicals to foreign invaders out. |
Secretion | Urine, vaginal discharge (in females) and lactation work to flush out organisms. |
