living are made up of one cell or more cells
nonliving Is not and never was made of cells;
prokaryotic cells do not have a nucleus
eukaryotic cells have a nucleus
unicellular one cell organism; made of a single cell
multicellular an organism composed of many cells
autotrophic Make their own food through photosynthesis, therefore do not depend on other organisms for food
heterotrophic consume other organisms for food
homeostasis ability to adjust internal processes in order to find a balance to survive changes
reproduce make new offspring (human offspring are children)
cell theory States that all living things: 1) are made of cells, 2) all cells come from pre-existing cells, 3) cells are the basic unit of life.
Cell The smallest unit that can live on its own and that makes up all living organisms
nucleus Membrane bound organelle that contains genetic material
photosynthesis process that uses light energy to convert water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and chemical energy (food)
adapt change as a population over time
variation different traits in a population of the same species that live in the same area
trait Characteristics that an organism has and can be passed onto the next generation
