net force the sum of all the forces acting on an object
unbalanced forces change the motion of an object; net force ≠0
balanced forces do not change the motion of an object; net force =0
acceleration ANY change in motion; can be in direction or speed; inversely related to mass; directly related to net force
inertia RESISTANCE to change in motion; directly related to mass
mass amount of matter that makes up an object; directly related to inertia
force pairs two forces that act on different objects as a result of their contact, where the forces are equal in magnitude but opposite in direction
