Term | Definition |

Wavelength | The horizontal distance between two successive crests or troughs (e.g. in a water wave) |
Crest | Highest point (or peak) of a wave. |
Amplitude | This is the height from the center to the crest or trough in a wave. The greatest distance away from the resting point. |
No/Zero net motion | When an object moves but does not change location. The duck moved up and down |
Transverse | A moving wave that is made up of oscillations happening perpendicular to the direction of energy transfer |
Trough | Lowest point (or valley) of a wave. |
