TermDefinition
Constraints Limits on the scope of a problem or solution; a restriction.
Criteria A rule or checklist for evaluating a solution to a problem; a specification
Engineering Design Process A repetitive cycle that engineers use to solve a problem
Iterative Process flow that may repeat or skip steps until some condition is satisfied.
Refine The improvement of a solution to make it better
Analyze (analysis) A careful process of studying data to discover patterns, relationships, and explanations.
Prototype A model created to test solutions to a problem or need in science
Scientific Method A logical, experimental approach to find the answer to a scientific problem.
Independent Variable Component in an experiment that is changed, manipulated, or altered in order to produce data.
Dependent Variable The data collected in an experiment that is responding because of a change in variables.
Hypothesis A statement written in the “If, then” format that is a prediction or possible solution to a question that can be tested
Control A group used to compare experimental data to - that is typical or normal in which nothing is changed.
Constants All supplies and tools used to perform an experiment.
