sluicing | To wash or rinse freely with a stream or shower of water |
rewiring | A process of intentionally disrupting the emotional response cycle. Rewiring creates new neural pathways to help a client see the error in their current thinking. |
experiencing | A process by which you sit with, allow and label your feelings and emotions. In this process, you are not attempting to sort or categorize as helpful or accurate; only be present to the experience. |
exposing | A process of intentionally experiencing a known trigger with the intent to desensitize or create an opportunity to rewire the neuroceptive response |
avoidance or abstinence | A process of removing triggers or access to create a healing space |
pattern interruption | A process of understanding the nuanced cycle of emotion, belief and behavior that a client experiences in order to create specific opportunities to rewire, expose and experience |
