Food Webs and Energy

TermDefinition
Producer An organism that uses energy from the sun to produce its own food.
Primary Consumer An organism that consumes producers (plants) to obtain energy.
Secondary Consumer A carnivore that eats primary consumers
Tertiary Consumer A carnivore that eats secondary consumers
Decomposer Fungi or bacteria that recycle nutrients from dead tissues and wastes back into an ecosystem
