Abduction | the widening of the joint to move parts away from the body |
Adduction | the joint narrows to bring parts back to the body. |
tendon (ten/o, tend/o) | Connective tissue that connects muscle to bone |
Ligaments | Hold bone to bone |
Cartilage (chondr/o) | Surrounds the bone at the joints and allows smooth movement among them. |
Bursa (burs/o) | sacs of fluid that lie under tendons |
Cranio | head, skull |
phalanges | the bones of the fingers and toes |
radius and ulna | the two bones of the forearm |
4 sections of the spine | the neck (cervical); chest/upper back (thoracic); lower back (lumbar and sacral ) |

hyperkinesia | abnormally increased and sometimes uncontrollable activity or muscular movements |
tax/o | arrangement, order, coordination |
ataxia | an inability to coordinate voluntary muscular movements that is symptomatic of some central nervous system disorders and injuries and not due to muscle weakness |
