superior vena cava collects blood from the head, neck, upper chest and arms
inferior vena cava collects blood from everywhere else (lower body regions)

angiolith stone forming in the wall of a vessel
angiosclerosis hardening of a vessel
vasospasm/venospasm involuntary contraction of a blood vessel/vein
aortectasia dilation of the aorta
aortic stenosis narrowing of the aorta
arotolith/arteriolith stone deposit in the wall of the aorta/artery
varicose veins enlarged dilated veins toward the surface of the skin
venostasis trapping of blood in an extremity due to compression
angiogram/aortogram/arteriogram/venogram record of the blood vessels, aorta, artery, veing
angiography procedure to describe the blood vessels
angioscope device used to look inside a vessell
cardiac catherization process of sticking a hollow tube (catheter) into the heart
structural defect usually a hole that is present through the atrial or ventricular the septal wall
aneurysm weakened area that bulges
valvulitis inflammation of the valves of the heart
atrial fibrillation quivering or spontaneous contractions of muscle fibers in the hearts atrium
cardiac arrest heart does not beat, resulting in a stoppage in blood circulation

antihypertensive reduces high blood pressure
vasodilator relaxes or expands a blood vessel
cardiotonic increases strength of heart contractions
coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) going around a blocked coronary artery
pericardiocentesis puncture into the pericardium (usually to remove excess fluid)
cardiothoracic surgery involves cutting through the patient's chest to get to the heart
anastomosis creation of an opening btwn two normally separate structures
phlebophlebostomy procedure to create an opening btwn two veins
