TermDefinition
Density an object's mass divided by its volume; a measure of how many particles are packed together into a certain amount of space (related word: dense)
Gas a state of matter without any defined volume or shape (related word: gaseous)
Liquid a state of matter with a defined volume but no defined shape
Matter material that has mass and takes up some amount of space
Property a characteristic or quality of a material
Solid matter with a fixed volume and shape
State of Matter a particular form that matter can take: The three main states of matter are solid, liquid, and gas.
Mass the amount of matter in an object
Solubility the ability of a substance to be dissolved in a liquid
Volume the amount of space an object or substance takes up
Particle something that is very tiny
Dissolve to add a solid material to a liquid in such a way that its particles completely disperse into the liquid, usually becoming invisible within the liquid
Combine to bring together; to mix
Mixture a combination of 2 or more substances that can be physically separated from one another
