Term | Definition |
---|---|
Energy | the ability to do work or cause change; the ability to move an object some distance |
Energy transfer | the transfer of energy from one organism to another through a food chain or web; or the transfer of energy from one object to another, such as heat energy |
Equal force | the push or pull on an object that is balanced with another force |
Force | a pull or push that is applied to an object |
Motion | a change in the position of an object |
Unequal force | the push or pull on an object that is not balanced with another force |
Dissolve | to add a solid material to a liquid in such a way that its particles completely disperse into the liquid, usually becoming invisible within the liquid |
Solution | mixture in which a solid and a liquid or two liquids are mixed so evenly, that it is not possible to see the separate particles |
Particle | something that is very tiny (too small to see) |
States of matter | a particular form that matter can take: The three main states of matter are solid, liquid, and gas. |
