TermDefinition
Atom The smallest particle of matter; make up everything that is considered matter.
Chemical Reaction A process in which one or more substances are converted to one or more different substances.
Density How much matter is in a certain space.
Flammability How a substance interacts with fire.
Inference A conclusion or explanation made using your observations and prior knowledge.
Law of Conservation of Mass Matter is not created nor destroyed in any chemical or physical change.
Matter Anything that has mass and volume.
Model A representation of an idea, an object or a process that is used to describe and explain phenomena that cannot be experienced directly.
Molecule Made up of a group of atoms bonded together.
Observation How scientists collect data about the natural world around them using the 5 senses.
Property A characteristic of a substance that doesn't change.
Phase Change When matter changes from one state(liquid, gas, solid) to another.
Product The new substances after a chemical reaction has occured.
Reactant A substance you start with in a chemical reaction.
Soluble Describes a material that can dissolve(break apart) in a particular substance.
State of Matter Forms in which matter can exist. (solid, liquid, gas, plasma)
Substance Made of one type of material throughout.
