Understanding science

TermDefinition
Qualitative description Uses senses like sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste
Scientific inquiry When scientists conduct scientific investigations
Prediction Is a statement of what will happen next in a sequence of events
Inference Is a logical explanation of an observation that is drawn from prior knowledge or experience
Physical science The study of matter and energy it includes physics and chemistry
Branches of science The three main branches of science are Earth science, Life science, and Physical Science.
Science Science is the investigation and exploration of natural events of the new information that results from those investigations.
Life science The study of living things or biology
Earth science The study of earth including rocks soil oceans the atmosphere and surface features.
Critical thinking Is comparing what u already know with the info you are given in order to decide wether you agree with it
Bias Likes or dislikes of what people think
Hypothesis Is a possible explanation for an observation that can be tested by scientific investigations
Observation Is the act of using one or more of ur senses to gather info and taking note of what occurs
Quantitative description Describing in numbers
