Precipitation

What is precipitation? when droplets accumulate, the cloud gets heavier and larger, and reaches the saturation point
What are the forms of precipitation? rain, snow, sleet, hail
What is the role of temperature in making rain vs. snow? warmer temperature makes rain and colder temperature makes snow
What temperature does crystallization happen vs. snow? 32 degrees and less
What is phase change for rain? None, it's L to L
What is the phase change for snow? L to S
What is reservoir? storage area for H20 (water)
What are the different types of reservoirs? aquifers, oceans, lakes, glaciers, icecaps
What are groundwater and groundwater flow? groundwater is H20 below the ground and groundwater flow is movement of groundwater from high to low elevations
Where does gravity play a role in moving water on the surface and below the surface? water is pulled down by gravity and sinks through permeable ground (permeable means that it can absorb water)
What is an aquifer? permeable sediment or rock (permeable means absorbent, which means it can take in water)
