Prokaryote A single cell organism that does not have a nucleus to store its DNA
Eukaryote An organism that contains DNA in its nucleus
Unicellular Single celled organism

Cell Membrane Regulates what enters and leaves the cell
Cytoplasm Gel-like substance where all the organelles reside
Mitochondria Powerhouse of the cell/ Supplies energy for the cell
Ribosomes Makes proteins for the cell
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) Makes lipids and breaks down toxic materials
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) Produces and transports proteins
Golgi Complex (Golgi Apparatus) Packages and distributes materials
Cell Wall Only in plant cells: Supports and Protects the cell
Vacuole Storage area for the cell. Stores food/water/waste
Large Central Vacuole Only in plant cell. Only stores water for plant cells.
Nucleus Boss of the Cell. Stores DNA
Lysosomes Produces enzymes that digests waste, cell parts and foreign invaders. Janitors of the cell
