Phenotype | The observable physical characteristics of an organism resulting from its genetic makeup |
Mutation | A change in genetic material that can create new or altered traits |
DNA | Deoxyribonucleic acid, the molecular structure that carries genetic instructions |
Genetic variation | Differences in genetic makeup between individuals of the same species |
Punnett square | A diagram used to predict the probability of specific genetic outcomes |
Genome | The complete set of genetic material in an organism |
Hereditary | Related to the passing of characteristics from parents to offspring through genes |
