Alzheimer's Disease Named after Alois Alzheimer, neuropathologist who studied the disease
Addison's Disease Named after the condition of adrenal insufficiency, described by a physician named Addison
Graves' Disease Named after Robert James Graves, who described exophthalmic goiter in 1835
Erb's Palsy Named after Wilhelm Heinrich Erb. This is a type of brachial plexus palsy. Which is a peripheral nerve injury.
Lou Gehrig's Disease Named after the baseball player Lou Gehrig who was diagnosed with it. This controls the muscles needed to move, speak, eat, and breathe.
Anterior The anterior part of the heart refers to the front side of the heart.
C.T. Known as a Cat Scan, used for a full body scan and X-Rays of the body.
E.K.G Electrocardiogram; A non-invasive test that measure the electrical activity of the heart.
C.P.R. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation; An emergency procedure that can help restart a person’s heartbeat.
O.R. Operating Room; A sterile environment where surgical procedures are performed.

Kinesiology The study of movement
Psychology The study of the mind
Aphasia Lack of speech

Ophthalmologist medical specialist (physician) of the eye
Myopia Nearsightedness
Audiologist Hearing specialist
Otopyorrhea Discharge of pus from the ears
Retina Deepest layer of the eye
Phacoscope: (Phaco/scope) Instrument used for looking into the lens
Dacryolith: (Dacryo/lith) A hard formation in the tear system
Exophthalmos: (Ex/ophtalmus Protrusion of the eye out of the eye sockets
Scleromalacia: (Sclero/malacia) Abnormal hardening of the sclera
Exotropia: (Ex/trop/ia) The outward turning of the eye, facing towards the nose
Adren/o, Adrenal/o: Adrenal Gland
Gonadopathy: (Gonado/pathy) Disease of the gonads
Crin/o: To secrete
Hypophysitis (Hypophsys/itis) Inflammation of the pituitary gland
Gluc/o, Glucos/o, Glyc/o: Sugar or Glucose
