What are the items/surfaces to disinfect following a pt exam? Cabinets, table surfaces, exam table
What is the purpose of the Prone position? It examines the spine & structures of the back
What is the purpose of the Fowlers position? To examine respiratory and cardiac issues
What is the purpose of the Lithotomy position? To examine the vaginal & rectal region, and for female caths
What is the purpose of the Modified Trendelenburg position? Used if the pt has symp. of syncope
What is the purpose of the JackKnife position? Surgeries r/t rectum/anus/coccyx. It also examines & tracts rectal & anal conditions (thromboses & internal hemorrhoids)
What is the purpose of the Sims position? Examines & treats the rectal area, enemas, rectal temp & med insertion
What is the purpose of the Semi-fowler position Respiratory issues Ex: Dyspnea. Also examines the trunk (head, neck, & chest)
What is the purpose of the Trendelenburg position? Abd & pelvic procedures, tests for incompetent valves
What is the purpose of the Knee-chest position Rectal/proctological exam & occasionally a sigmoidscopy if the proct isn't available
What is the purpose of the Dorsal Recumbent position? Digital vaginal/rectal/abd exams
What is the purpose of the Horizontal/Supine position Examine anterior part (breasts & abd org.)
