Hypothalamus Connects the nervous system to the endocrine system by translating signals from the brain into hormones
Thyroid gland The largest endocrine gland in the neck that produces hormones like thyroxine and triiodothyronine
Hormones Chemical messengers of the endocrine system that are released into the blood
ACTH- Adrenocorticotropic hormone Stimulates the adrenal cortex to release steroids
Adrenal cortex Part of the adrenal gland that produces three major groups of steroid hormones called corticosteroids
Lymphocytes A type of white blood cell that play a crucial role in the immune system
Lymph nodes Small, bean-shaped structures that play a crucial role in the immune system
Tonsils Tonsils are small masses of tissue at the back of the mouth and nose and at the top of the throat
Lymphadenopathy Enlargement of lymph nodes, which are small, bean-shaped glands that play a crucial role in the immune system
Hemolytic anemia a blood disorder that occurs when red blood cells break down faster than the body can replace them
Capillaries Delicate blood vessels that deliver nutrients and oxygen to cells throughout your body
Atherosclerosis A chronic disease that affects the arteries, causing them to become narrowed and hardened
Murmur A low, continuous sound, such as the sound of bees, or an irregular heart sound
Cardiologist Diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the cardiovascular system
Myocardial ischemia Occurs when the heart muscle does not receive enough blood flow and oxygen
