what is backstage? | where we get ready before we perform |
how does impression management work? | by collectively defining a situation, by communicating with others what to think of us, using fronts, by being dramatic, and presenting our idealized self |
what's a working consensus? | people agreeing upon a definition of a situation |
what are expressions given? | conscious, intentional, or usually verbal communication |
what are expressions given off? | may or may not be intentional but they tend to be nonverbal such as body language, facial expressions, style of dress |

what is idealization? | trying to live up to what others consider to be the idea. this can lead to misinterpretation as we're not showing our true selves |
