tetralogy of Fallot | a congenital malformation of the heart that involves 4 distinct defects |
CHF / congestive heart failure | the heart is unable to pump blood efficiently |
CAD / coronary artery disease | disease of the arteries surrounding the heart |
endocarditis | bacterial inflammation of the inner lining of the heart |
myocarditis | inflammation of the heart muscle |
pericarditis | inflammation of the pericardium |
MVP / mitral valve prolapse | improper closure of the mitral valve |
murmur | extra sound between normal beats |
stenosis | thickening of valvular tissue causing narrow valve openings |
rheumatic heart disease | heart disease caused by rheumatic fever |
aneurysm | weakening of the walls of a vessel |
PVD / peripheral vascular disease | blockage of blood vessels outside of the heart |
Raynaud's disease | episodes of vasospasm in fingers and toes |
varicose veins | damaged valves that prevent backflow of blood in veins of the leg |
