Region/Quadrant | contents |

Hypochondriac | 2 upper right & left regions below the cartilage of the ribs that extend over the abdomen |
Epigastric | region above the stomach |
lumbar regions | 2 middle right & left regions near the waist |
umbilical region | region of the navel or umbilicus |
inguinal regions | 2 lower right & left regions near the groin where the legs join the trunk of the body |
iliac regions | containing the right inguinal region and left inguinal region, (iliac=near the ilium) |
hypogastric region | lower middle region below the umbilical region |
Abdomen: right upper quadrant | right lobe of liver, gallbladder, part of the pancreas, parts of the small & large intestines |
Abdomen:left upper quadrant | left lobe of liver, stomach, spleen, part of pancreas, parts of small & large intestines |
Abdomen: right lower quadrant | parts of small & large intestines, right ovary, right fallopian tube, appendix, right ureter |
Abdomen: left lower quadrant | parts of small & large intestine, left ovary, left fallopian tube, left ureter |
