Rapid Eye Movement sleep REM | That period of sleep when dreams occur. This constitutes about 50% of baby's sleep and 20% of adults sleep. During this time the eyes move rapidly under the eyelids, there is twitching, and breathing is quick and irregular. |
Non-REM | Opposite of REM, quiet sleeping, non jerky, regular slow breathing, divided into 4 stages from very light to very deep. |
Neurons and Glial Cells and Myelin | The 2 kinds of cells that make up the brain. Neurons deal with info through electrochemical means Glial cells make a sheaf called myelin that surrounds the neurons. Myelin increases and insulates transmission of info. |

Hind brain Medulla Pons Cerebellum | Medulla and pons are larger continuation of the spinal cord after it enters the skull. Cerebellum big structure to the back of the medulla and pons. |
