giving ventilations | size up the scene. (if the victim is not breathing but has a pulse) 1. Position and seal the resuscitation mask. 2. Open the airway, and blow into the mask. 3. recheck for breathing and a pulse about every two min. 4. provide care as needed. |
conscious choking - Adult and Child | size up the scene. 1. give 5 back blows 2. give 5 abdominal thrusts 3 continue to give 5 back blows and 5 abdominal thrust until object is forced out, victum begins to cough or breath, or victum becomes unconsious. |
conscious choking - infant | size up the scene. (if the infant canot cough, cry, or breath: 1. Carefully face the infant face-down along your forearm. 2. Give 5 back blows. 3. position the infant face up along your forearm. 4. give 5 chest thrust. |
unconscious choking 1-3 | size up the scene. (if a ventilation attempt doesnt make the chest rise): 1. retilt the head and give another ventilation. 2. if the chest still doesnt rise give 30 compressions. 3. look for an object inside the mouth. |
