Dred Scott Decision(Missouri) 1857, his master took him to a free state and then went back to slave state, sued master for freedom, he cannot sue bc hes not a citizen, cannot interfere with a ppls property, 36-30 declared unconst. Led to civil war, courts can make slavery unconst.
Traditionalist(Democratic)Party Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren and J.C. Calhoun, suspicious of all banks, want low revenue tariffs, believe in laissez faire, strict construction.
Tribune of the People He believed that the president was the tribune of the people, which meant that he was elected to represent the will of the majority.
