Liver | The largest organ of the body, which produces bile to assist in breakdown of fats and assists in the metabolism of various substances in the body. (RUQ, LUQ) |
Spleen | An organ in the LUQ, that acts as a blood filtration system and a reservior for reserves of blood. |
Gallbladder | A sac on the underside of the liver that stores bile produced by the liver. (RUQ) |
Large Intestine | The muscular tube that removes water from waste products received from the small intestine and moves anything not absorbed by the body toward extretion from the body. |
Colon | (ULQ)final stage of digestive process,3steps to absorb the remaining water and electrolytes from indigestible food matter; to accept and stores food remains that were not digested in the small intestine; and to eliminate solid waste (feces) from the body. |
Stomach | Muscular sac between the esophagus and the small intestine where digestion of food begins. (LUQ) |
Small Intestine | Muscultube between the stomach and the large intestine, divided into the duodenum, the jejunum, and the ileum, which receives partially digested food from the stomach and continues digestion. Nutrients are absorbed by the body through its walls.(RLQ, LLQ) |
