Enterprise master patient index(EMPI) integrated delivery systems typically EMPI's, allows all of the components of the IDS to share information about the patient Medical record # assigned may be the same for all hospitals, ambulatory settings, & other components of the system
Executive information system(EIS) a type of decision support system that is designed to be used by healthcare administrators,must be easy to use & have access to a wide range of data. A lot of graphs & charts generally are used as part of the results
financial information system the administration system that manages the financial activities of a healthcare facility, may also be called financial applications
Hospital information system comprehensive database containing all the clinical, administrative, financial, and demographic information about each patient served by a hospital
Human resources information system(HRIS) tracks employees within the organization , tracking includes promotions, transfers, performance appraisal due dates, and absenteeism
Materials management information system manages the supplies and equipment within the facility
Master Patient Index(MPI) patient identifying directory referencing all patients related to an organization & which also serves as a link to the patient record or information, facilities, patient identification,assists in maintaining a patient record from birth to death
Patient Registration frequently known as ADT , this system collects data on the patient from pre-admission to discharge
Practice management system software designed to help medical practices run more smoothly & efficiently
Probabilistic algorithm able to identify transpositions & name changes and can use phonetic search capabilities
Registration- Admission discharge, transfer(R-DAT) type of administrative information system that stores demographic information & performs functionality related to registration, admission, discharge, & transfer of patients within the organization
Revenue cycle process of how patient financial & health information moves into, through, & out of the healthcare facility, culminating with the facility receiving reimbursement for services provided
Rules- based algorithm algorithm that can be used to determine the probability that a patient has duplicate medical record numbers in the master patient index
Scheduling system system used to control the use of resources through the organization, can include staff, equipment, rooms, and more. May be centralized or independent
