agoraphobia | an intense fear of being in a situation from which escape is not possible or in which help would not be available if one experienced overwhelming anxeity or panic attack |
anxiety disorder | psychological disorder characterized by frequent fearful thoughts about what might happen in the future |
bipolar disorder | mood disorder in which manic episodes alternate with periods of depression usually with relatively normal periods in between |
catatonic schizophrenia | characterized by complete stillness or stupor or great excitement and agitation |
compulsion | presistent,irresistable,and irrational urge to perform an act or ritual repeatedly |
conversion disorder | somotoform disorder in which person suffers loss of motor or sensory functioning in some part of body |
delusion | false belief not generally shared by others in a culture |
delusion of grandeur | false belief that one is someone famous |
delusion of persecution | false belief that some person or agency is trying to cause harm in some wat |
disorganized schizophrenia | extreme social withdrawl,halluucinations, delusions, silliness, bizarre behavior |
dissociative amnesia | dissaccoative disorder in which there is a complete or partial loss of ability to recall personal information or identify past experiences |
dissociative disorder | disorder, under unbearable stress, conciousness becomes dissociated from a person's identity or memories of personal events |
dissociative fugue | dissociative disorder in which one has complete loss of memory of one's entire identity, travels away from home and assumes anew identity |
dissociative identy disorder | two or more distinct personalities occur in same person |

gender identity disorder | sexual disorder characterized by a problem accepting ones identity as male or female |
generalized anxiety disorder | anxiety disorder where people experience chronic, excessive worry for 6 months or more |

major depressive disorder | mood order marked by great sadness , dispair, and hopelessness |
manic episode | A period of excessive euphoria, inflated self-esteem, wild opitmism, and hyperactivity, often accompanied by delusions of grandeur and by hostility if activity is blocked. |
mood disorders | Extreme and unwarranted disturbances in emotion or mood. |
obsession | A persistent, involuntary thought, image, or impulse that invades consciousness and causes great distress. |
obsessive-compulsive disorder | An anxiety disorder in which a person suffers from recurrent obsessions and/or compulsions. |
panic attack | Episode of overwhelming anxiety, fear, or terror. |
panic disorder | Person experiences recurring, unpredictable episodes of overwhelming anxiety, fear, or terror |
paranoid schizophrenia | Type characterized by delusions of grandeur or persecution. |
paraphilias | Disorder in which recurrent sexual urges, fantasies, or behaior involve nonhuman objects. |
personality disorder | A long-standing, inflexible maladaptive pattern of behaving and relating to others. |
phobia | Fear of some specific object, situation, or activity that poses no real danger. |
psychological disorders | Mental processes and/or behavior patterns that cause emmomtional distress and/or substantial impairment in functioning. |
phychosis | Loss of contact with reality. |
schizophrenia | A severe phychological disorder characterized by loss of contact with reality, hallucinations, delusions, inappropriate or flat affect, some disturbance in thinking, social withdrawal, and/or other bizarre behavior. |
sexual disorders | Disorders with a sexual basis that are destructive, guilt-or anxiety-producing, compulsive, or a cause of discomfort or harm to one or both parties involved. |
social phobia | Fear and avoidance of any social or performance situation that migh embarrass or humiliate oneself. |
somatoform disorders | Physical sympthoms are present that are due to psychological causes rather th an any know medical conditions. |
specific phobia | Fear of a specific object or situation; a general label for any phobia other than agoraphobia and social phobia. |
undifferentiated schizophrenia | Schizophrenic symptoms either do not conform to the criteria of any one type of schizophrenia. |
