Movements
Question | Answer |
---|---|
Extension of Fingers | Straighten out hand; releasing an item from grasp |
Flexion of Fingers | Bend Finger toward palms; make fist |
Opposition of Thumb | Rotates thumb into pronation: Rotation of thumb combined with ABduction of 60* and Flexion; Touch pinky with thumb |
Elevation of Scapula | Moving scapula in superior or upward direction; shrugging shoulders |
Flexion of Knee | Tibia rolls posteriorly elongating the ACL and the ACL pulls on the tibia. BENDING THE KNEE |
Flexion of Neck | Lowering chin down to your chest; ROM 40-80* |
Rotation of Neck | Moving neck side to side |
Pronation of Forearm | When palm or forearm faces downward |
Supination of the Forearm | Rotating the radius in the opposite direction of the pronator muscle and distal end back to lateral side of wrist; Hand on top of door knob to turn open |
Depression of Mandible | Lowering of Jaw; Open mouth |
Protraction of Mandible | Pushed jaw forward to stretch chin out |
Flexion of Shoulder | Moving arm anywhere from a resting position by sides to straight above your head |
ABduction of Shoulder | Rotation of shoulder joint; moving arm straight out and away from the body |
Medial Rotation of Shoulder | Arm flexed to 90* at elbow; internally rotated around the longitudinal plane of the hummers |
Lateral Rotation of Shoulder | Arm flexed to 90* at elbow; moving away from centerline of body |
Dorsiflexion of Ankle | Pulling toes back toward shines: letting off gas pedal |
Planter Flexion of Ankle | Extension of the ankle so foot point down and away from leg; press on gas pedal |
Rotation of Spine | Also known as Vertebral rotation; twisting motion |
ABduction of hip | Moving away from midline of the body |
Adduction of Arm | Movement of arm toward the midline of the body |
Rotation | A movement of the head and vertebral column along the transverse plan |
Supination | A movement bringing the radius and ulna parallel to one another |
Pronation | A movement when the radius crosses over the ulna |
Planter Flexion | Ankle Movement stepping on the cars gas pedal |
Medial rotation | A limb at the shoulder or hip turns towards the midline |
Lateral Rotation | A limb at the shoulder or hip swing away from the midline |
Lateral Flexion | When the head or vertebral column bends laterally to the side |
Flexion | A movement that bends a joint or brings the bones closer together |
Extension | A movement that straightens or opens a joint |
Dorsiflexion | Ankle movement letting off the car's gas pedal |
Circumduction | A combination of flexion, extension, adduction and ABduction |
Adduction | A movement that brings a limb medially toward the body's midline |
ABduction | A movement that moves a limb laterally away from the midline |
Distal | A structure of the arm or leg that is further away from the trunk |
Inferior | A structure closer to the feet |
lateral | Further away from the midline of the body |
Medial | Closer to the midline of the body |
Posterior | Further toward the back of the body |
Proximal | A structure of the arm or leg that is closer to the trunk |
Superficial | A structure closer to the body's surface |
Superior | A Structure closer to the head |
Deep | Structure deeper in the Body |
Anterior | Further towards the front of body |
