QuestionAnswer
What is Empirical Data? Based on verifiable or objective observation/data. Fact based. when seeking it is not common sense it is scientific observation
What is a Naturalistic Study? Studying things in their natural habitat. (out in the wild) The subject should not know they are being studied.
What are clinical or case studies? Focus on an individual or small group. For example, Andy Warhol hoarder study.
What is Archival Research (meta)? Using existing records boiled down to make comparisons.
What are Surveys? Pencil and paper, computer, phone ins. ask and answer questions. Can reach people. Lying or even the scale being too balanced is biased.
True or false? The more subjects you have in a study the better it is. True
What is an independent variable? The person or group that receives the intervention. (manipulated by the researcher)
What is a dependent variable? Any change that occurs.
What is reliability? Are your results consistent and not biased? Can you trust them?
What is Validity? Does it test what you want it to test. (For example, a weight scale tests weight)
What are the Ethics of experimentation? Do not impose harm upon a subject human or animal. The people in the experiment can leave at any time. Degree of risk must never exceed humanitarian. Need to be willing to terminate the study at any time. Is it good for everyone? present to control board.
