Why do less behaviors that humans do regard drive theory? We engage in a bunch of different behaviors from regular animals because our brains are more developed and allow for more complicated reasoning behind behaviors.
What is the opposite of extrinsic behavior? intrinsic behavior

What does optimal level of arousal depend on? It depends on an individual's preferences
What is the first (lowest) level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs? Physiological needs (food and water: basic needs)
What is the second level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs? Safety needs (protects us from dangerous things)
What is the third level of Maslow's hierarchy of needs? Social needs (belongingness + love, also social networking)

Explain the process of negative energy balance When the intake of food is less than the amount of food used for energy, the stomach lining sends a hormone (ghrelin) to the hypothalamus to give the message that you need to eat.
Explain the process of positive energy balance When the intake of food is greater than the amount of food used for energy, the food cells send a hormone (leptin) to the hypothalamus to give the message that you are full or satiated.
List 2 psychological/social factors that play into eating Eating despite positive energy balance (for various reasons), and living a sedentary lifestyle
Why would someone eat despite having a positive energy balance? food (especially unhealthy or fatty ones) are very enticing because they are tasty, there's variety, they are cheap, and they are convenient.
What is a sedentary lifestyle, and how many Americans participate in this lifestyle. A sedentary lifestyle is a lifestyle where one does not exercise during their leisure time. About 45% of Americans live this way.
