Barrett’s Esophagus | Named after Norman Rupert Barrett, an Australian born thoracic surgeon; is a condition in which the flat pink lining of the esophagus becomes damaged by acid reflux, which causes the lining to thicken and become red |
Ebola Virus | Named after where the virus was first discovered, Ebola river, in Zaire; weakness, hemorrhagic fever, aches, diarrhea, vomiting and stomach pain |
Hodgkin’s Disease | Named after Thomas Hodgkin, a London Physician; cancer of the lymphatic tissue |
Wilms’ Tumor | Named after Max Wilms, a German pathologist and surgeon; malignant kidney tumor containing developing (germ) cells |
