EI 4-1 Acupoints

Acupoints

Acupoints Gates to the body's energy system. Points where vital energy flow is more accessible. Transmit energy easily; low electrical resistance & high conductivity.
Ahshi Point - painful either spontaneously or upon palpation usually indicating congestion or stagnation - Trigger Point
Energy Flow near acupoints Energy flow near acupoints tends to slow down or stop.
# of classical acupoints 365, numbered in consecutive order from beginning to end of meridian. identified by poetic names that indicate location or function.
location of acupoints generally found @ depressions/hollows near bony prominences; on knots, cords, ropes/bands of muscle; near other physical landmarks such as nail border, hairline, sense organ, nipple, navel; or the junction of red & white flesh on the sole of foot.
cun width of client's thumb @ middle join or the distance between innermost creases of the middle joint of the middle finger. Standard measurement used to find acupoints.
Front/Mu Points Anterior - Front collecting points b/c Qi of their respective organs gather there - alarm points b/c they are used for acute conditions.
Back/Shu Points Posterior - Associated points located near their respective organs. Back Transporting points b/c they transmit or direct Qi to their respective organs.
