Gluteus Maximus Origin: Iliac crest, sacrum, cocyx, aponeurosis of sacrospinalis Insertion: Iliotibial tract of fascia lata and superior lateral part of linea aspera (gluteal tuberosity) on femur Action: Extends thigh at hip join, lateral rotation
Gluteus Minimus and Medius Origin: Ilium Insertion: Greater trochanter of femur Action: Thigh abduction at hip joint and medial rotation.
Tensor Fasciae Latae Origin: Iliac crest Insertion: Tibia by IT tract Action: Flexes and abducts thigh
Piriformis Origin: Anterior sacrum Insertion: Superior border of greater trochanter Action: Lateral rotation and abduction
