Anterior Muscles

Sternocleidomastoid | Turns chin to opposite side, elevates (expands) thorax during forced inhalation. |
Scalenes - Anterior, Middle | Elevation of ribs during forced inhalation or bending of neck toward side of contracting. |
Sternohyoid | Depresses hyoid bone. |
Pectoralis Major | Flexion and adduction of arm. |
Pectoralis Minor | Draws scapula anteriorly and medially ( as in pointing the shoulder forward). |
External Intercostals | Elevates and expands rib cage during inhalation, (located between ribs). |
External Oblique | Compression of abdomen (forced exhalation, etc.), rotation and lateral flexion of "trunk". |
Internal Oblique | Compression of abdomen (forced exhalation, etc.), rotation and lateral flexion of "trunk". |
Rectus Abdominus | Compression of abdomen and flexion of "trunk". |
Biceps Brachii | Flexion and supination of forearm. |
Brachialis | Flexion of forearm. |
Coracobrachialis | Flexion and adduction of arm. |
Brachioradialis | Flexion of arm. |
Flexor Carpi Radialis | Flexion and abduction of hand at wrist. |
Flexor Digitorum | Flexion of phlanges, digits 2 - 5. |
Flexor Carpi Ulnaris | Flexion and adduction of hand at wrist. |
