Skeletal | Protects and supports the body organs |
Cardiovascular | Blood vessels transport blood, which carries oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, wastes, etc. |
Digestive | Breaks down food to enter the blood to distribute to body cells |
Respiratory | Keeps blood constantly supplied with oxygen and removes carbon dioxide |
Urinary | Eliminates nitrogenous wastes, regulates water, electrolyte, and acid balance of blood |
Muscular | Allows movement, facial expressions, maintains posture, produces heat |
Lymphatic | Picks up fluid leaked from blood vessels and returns it to blood |
Integumentary | External body covering; protects deeper tissues |
Nervous | Fast-acting control system of the body |
Endocrine | Glands secrete hormones (growth, reproduction, nutrient use) |
Immunity | Fights off infection and diseases |
Reproductive | Produces offspring |
