lateral pterygoid | opens and protrudes and laterally moves mandible |
sternocleidomastoid | both muscles acting together flex neck. individually the muscles draw the head to that shoulder |
splenius capitis | both muscles together extend neck. individual each muscle laterally flexes and rotates head |
semispinalis capitis | both muscle together extend together. individually each muscle rotates the head |
longissimus capitis | both muscles together extend head. individually muscle will turn face to the same side |
trapezius | elevates and retracts scapula and depresses its medial aspect. extends and laterally flexes head and neck |
