Cancer Treatments

Type of cancer treatments.

TermDefinition
Surgery Complete remove tumors (benign) ex. laser
Radiation Administered by x-ray machines or the placement of small amounts of radioactive material w/in the involved organ.
Chemotherapy Treatment of cancer with drugs or antineoplastic agents.
Biological therapy Immunotherapy, involves the administration of substances that stimulate the immune system against the cancer cell.
Hormone therapy Suppresses the production of hormones that may cause cancer growth when organs like the breast, testis and prostate are affected. Prevents tumors from responding to hormones by blocking receptor sites.
