anatomy study flash cards2
Neuronal Action Potentials 4 phases | Resting phase depolarisation phase reolarisation phase hyperpolarisation phase |
Plasma | One of the 3 major body fluids "white blood" 90% water and 10% solutes |
5 major types of glial cells | astrocytes-attaches to the brain's blood capillaries microglia- engulf and destroys microorganisms; pruning ependymal cells-resemble epithelial cells oligodendrocytes- produce the fatty myelin sheath schwann cells-found only in PNS |
Autonomic Nervous System | divided into sympathetic division and parasympathetic division |
multipolar neurons | one axon, several dendrites; mostly in the brain and spinal cord subtypes: basket cells, pyramidal cells, spiny neurons |
bipolar neurons | one axon, only one highly branched dendrite; found in retina of the eye, inner ear, olfactory pathway |
unipolar neurons | single process extending from the cell body always sensory neurons, conducting info toward the CNS |
3 types of lever arrangements | first class- fulcum lie between the effort- pull or load second class- load ie between the fulcum and pull third class- pull is exerted between the fulcum and load (most common type in body) |
Atlas Axis makes the head move side to side | first cervical vertebrae- base of the skull second cervical vertebrae |
Pharynx (throat) 3 anatomical divisions | nasopharynx oropharynx laryngopharynx |
