Beginning Reading and Writing

TermDefinition
Decode The ability to apply your knowledge of letter-sound relationships, including knowledge of letter patterns, to correctly pronounce written words.
Multisyllabic Words that have more than one syllable, or vowel sound.
Prefix A pair or group of letters added to the front of a base word.
Suffix A letter, or group of letters, that is added to the end of a. root (base) word.
Syllable A single, unbroken vowel sound within a spoken word.
Phrase A group of words together.
Paragraph A groups of sentences that share a common idea.
