How do you do DNA sequencing? Converting to RNA, translating to amino acid. DNA - - A=T, C=G, etc. RNA - - A=U, T=A, etc. Amino acid convert in pairs of 3.
List 4 tissues types. Give functions of each. Give an example of each. Epithelial, covers and protects all body surfaces. Ex, outer layer of your skin, intestines. Connective, binds, protects, serves as framework. Ex, adipose tissue, cartilage, bone. Muscle, contracts, body movement. Ex, skeletal, cardiac, smooth.
Nervous, sends electrical impulses regulating body functions. Ex, brain, spinal cord, nerves.
What cells produce melanin. What are the different types. Is there a difference in the number of melanocytes between someone w/ albinism and someone who is normal. Melanocytes produce melanin. Pheomelanin produce red/yellow pigment and eumelanin which produce a dark brown/black pigment.
Someone with albinism lacks the production of melanin t therefore they do not produce the same level of melanin as someone who does suffer from albinism.
Which gland produces an oily substance. What is the name of the oily substance and which gland produces it. Holocrine glands. Sebaceous glands produce oily substance called sebum.
What is a membrane. What tissue types are they found in. A membrane is 2 thin layers of tissue. They usually produce some type of fluid to prevent friction. They are found in connective and epithelial tissue types.
Describe the movement of the following joints and give an example of each; Synarthrosis Diarthrosis Amphiarthrosis Synarthrosis, immovable joints. Ex, skull Diarthrosis, freely movable joints. Ex, elbow Amphiarthrosis, partially moveable joints. Ex, pelvis, rib cage
What is the difference between true ribs, false ribs, and floating ribs. True ribs are ribs 1-7 and are connected directly to the sternum. Ribs 8-12 are false ribs, 8-10 are connected to the cartilage of rib 7 and ribs 11-12 are not connected to anything and are called floating ribs.
What is the major difference between stratified and pseudostratified epithelium. Stratified is composed of multiple cell layers, pseudostratified is falsely layered. It appears to be multiple layers but is only one layer of cells.
