What muscle is the heart made of? Cardiac Muscle
What is the hearts function? To pump blood around the body
How many chambers does the heart have? The heart has 4 chambers
What are the top 2 chambers called? Atria
What are the 2 chambers at the bottom called? Ventricles
What are the main arteries called? The aorta and the pulmonary artery
What are the main veins called? The vena cava and pulmonary vein
What separates the two sides of the heart? The septum
What is blood that carries oxygen called? Oxygenated blood
What is blood that carries carbon dioxide called? Deoxygenated blood
Where does deoxygenated blood enter the body? The right atrium
How does the deoxygenated blood make its way to the right atrium? Through the vena cava
What does the right atrium do? The right atrium contracts and pumps blood through valve into the right ventricle
Where is blood pumped out of? The heart
When the blood is pumped out what does it go through? It goes through the pulmonary artery
When the blood leaves the heart through the pulmonary artery where does it go? The blood goes to the lungs
Do veins or arteries carry blood to the heart? Veins
Which have thinner walls, veins or arteries? Veins
Do arteries have thicker walls? Yes
Arteries have valves? True or false? False
Do veins carry blood to the heart? Yes
What are valves? Valves prevent back flow of blood
What are capillaries? Capillaries are tiny blood vessels with very thin walls
What do capillaries do? Capillaries connect veins and arteries together
What carries blood TO the heart? Veins
What carries blood AWAY from the heart? Arteries
