Trapezius (head) Origin: Occipital bone, vertebrae Insertion: Occipital bone, superior and inferior Function: Raises and lowers shoulders (shrugs)

Splenius Capitis (head) Origin: Ligamentum nuchae, vertebrae Insertion: Temporal bone (mastoid process), Occipital bone Function: Extends head and neck, bends and rotates head toward same side Nerve Supply: 2nd, 3rd & 4th cervical nerves
