(ch2) Negative feedback loops vs. Positive feedback loops Negative are inhibitory. Positive feedback is stimulatory.

(pg46) Difference btw Catabolism and Anabolism Catabolism describes chem rxtn that break down larger food molecules and release energy. Anabolism is the many chem rxtns that build larger and more complex chem molecules.
(pg58) What are lipids composed of? Why don't they dissolve in water? carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. They are generally nonpolar.
(pg90) What are the three cell extensions? microvilli, cilia and flagella.
(pg107) Endocytosis meaning and examples, and Exocytosis. In endocytosis, the plasma membrane "traps" and brings materials into cell. Ex: phagocytosis and pinocytosis. Exocytosis are when cells "pinch" off entire vesicle and it moves out.
(pg128) Mitosis has 4 distinct phases? P-prophase, M-metaphase, A-anaphase, T-telophase
(pg138) The four prinicipal types of Tissue? Epithelial, Connective, muscle and Nervous tissues.
(pg170) What are examples for some functions of the 4 tissues? Skeletal-movemt of bones/heat production. Smooth-movemt of substances along tracts. Cardiac-contraction of heart. Nervous-excitability conduction.
(pg186) What network of nerves are in the dermis? What sensory info do they process? Somatic sensory receptors. Process pain, pressure, touch, temperature.
