Accessory Organs | Salivary glands, Parotid, Submanidbular, Sublingual, Tongue, Teeth, Liver, Gallbladder, Pancreas, Vermiform appendix |
Mucosa | Innermost layer of GI wall- 3 layers-Mucous epithelium, Lamina propria, & Muscularis mucosae |
Submucosa | Connective Tissue (thicker than mucosal layer)- Numerous glands, blood vessels & parasympathetic nerves. |
Muscularis | Thick layer of muscle tissue that wraps around the submuscosa |
Serosa | Outermost layer of GI wall; serous membrane; visceral layer of the peritoneum |
Deglutition | Act of Swallowing |
Upper Respiratory Tract | Nose, Nasopharynx, Oropharynx, Laryngpharynx, & Larynx |
Lower Respiratory Tract | Trachea, Bronchial tree segments (ALL), & Lungs |
Bronchi Functions | Distribute air to the lungs interior's- 23 levels for optium oxygen tranfer to pulmonary blood. |
Alveoli Functions | Are enveloped by a network of capillaries- Main Function- gas exchange between air and blood. |
Epiglottis | Flexible "lid" of the larynx |
Primary bronchi | left and right branch from trachea to each lung |
Secondary bronchi (lobar bronchi) | branches from primary bronchi- 3 from right and 2 from left |
Tertiary bronchi | branches off the secondary bronchi |
Bronchioles | smallest branches (20 levels) |
