regions of the body

There two main regions in the body, and several divisions within these regions

TermDefinition
Axial region divided into four separate sub-regions head, neck, chest, and trunk region (not your arms or legs)
Appendicular region refers to the arms and legs, you can divide this region up into the limbs
Abdominal quadrants Are the four quadrants-right upper, right lower, left upper, and left lower. (different areas of the abdomen can mean different things.)
Right and left hypochondriac regions The uppermost lateral regions. On the right is the liver and part of the upper kidney. On the left is part of the pancreas and spleen.
Epigastric region The upper middle section where you stomach is located. Your abdominal aorta, part of the pancreas, the duodnum, the inferior vena cava, and part of the liver can be found here.
Right and left lumbar regions The middle and lateral regions. Kidneys on either side, and parts of the colon on both sides, are seen here.
Umbilical region Around your belly button. Most of your small intestine, or small bowel.
Right & left or iliac region The lowest and most lateral of the nine sub reions. parts of the colon on both sides, some of the small bowel
Hypogastric region The pubic region. the sigmoid colon, the bladder, the female ovaries, and the female uterus.
