TermDefinition
heart the main organ in the circulatory system, the heart can weigh between 7 and 15 ounces, the heart receives oxygen and puts it in the bloodstream then transports the blood across the body
lungs they are connected to the esophagus, the lungs take in oxygen and puts it into the bloodstream and then releases the carbon dioxide
large intestine it connects to the small intestine, after receiving food with little to no nutrients left in it the large intestine transports the waste products out the body
small intestine it connects to the large intestine and the stomach, it receives digested food from the stomach and takes the nutrients from it before moving it to the large intestine
stomach one of the major organs in the digestive system, it connects to the esophagus and the small intestine, it takes food from the esophagus and breaks it down before moving it to the small intestine
esophagus it is connected to the lungs and the stomach, it moves food from the mouth to the stomach and is the tube that the lungs use to get the air in them
liver it is the largest solid organ in the body and removes toxins from the blood, it is located just below the rib cage on the right side
bladder the bladder holds waste liquids and stores them until they are released from the body
gallbladder it holds bile that is released into the small intestine to break down food
kidneys they filter the blood and removes waste and any extra water to create urine
brain it controls motor functions and sensory information, it is located in the skull
pancreas it creates the enzymes needed to break down food, it is located just behind your abdomen
