Sagittal Plane | Runs longitudinally down the length of the body, divides into right and left halves. (also called Medial place or mid-sagittal plane) |
Frontal Plane | A longitudinal plane that divides the body into anterior and posterior |
Transverse Plane | Runs horizontally dividing the body into superior and inferior parts ( these parts are often called cross sections) |
Dorsal Body Cavity | Consists of the Cranial and Spinal Cavities |
Ventral Body Cavity | Consists of the thoracic cavity, diaphragm, abdominal cavity and pelvic cavity |
Cranial City | Wishing ridged skull and contains the brain |
Spinal Cavity | Runs within the body vertebral column and protects the spinal chord (which is part of the brain) |
Thoracic Cavity | Separated from the rest of the ventral cavity by muscular diaphragm. The here and lungs are located here and are protected by the bony ribcage. |
